Mixed-Use Building in Istanbul

Project Summary

6814 sqm of offices, residential units, shops and restaurants designed in two different approaches; one favouring a horizontal layout that provides a human-scale approach on a dense organic design taxonomy, the other favouring a vertical approach with a hi-tech design taxonomy, that leaves more open space on the ground level.

The Vertical Alternative

With the vertical layout, I’ve designed two buildings connected on the ground level. The ground level is for commercial units. The smaller building houses offices, and the taller building is residential units and dedicated home offices.

The Horizontal Alternative

With the horizontal alternative, I’ve chosen to use an organic, repeating structural language. The building is loosely U-shaped on the plan, one arm dedicated to residential, and the other to offices, while the shorter side is for dedicated home offices, and the ground floor is predominantly commercial units.
